Masiaka Town is located 40 miles (65 km) from Freetown. It is one of the major towns in the Northern part of the country and it is strategically placed and connects many other parts of the country. The population of Masiaka is estimated to be more than 10,000, largely from the Temne ethnic group with business as their main source of livelihood.
Meanwhile, as teenage pregnancy and maternal mortality rate are national issues in Sierra Leone, Masiaka Town contribute approximately 20 to 30 percent of the total population in the country.
However, inadequate qualified healthcare professionals and limited access to healthcare services are the significant issues. In lieu to combat such situations there must be a well structured hospital and nursing school to impact knowledge and clinical skills to salvage the situations.
Moreover, as the President’s agenda for Quality Education and youth empowerment, we are ready to collaborate in order to foster such goals.
